| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
I am not a tech, so don't laugh. Is it possible that the leak could be on the low side and the low press cutout is not shutting down the system before it draws in air or moisture. Could non condensables be causing the high head? Just learning so correct me if you please.

ANSWER:
Non condensibles (air in the refrigeration circuit) will cause head pressure anomolies and fluctuations but if the problem is brought up and a tech thinks this is the case then the refrigerant should be recovered the system pressure checked vacuumed and recharged then you will know that it has the proper charge if the tech is not sure then you need to start asking what is the outdoor temp, indoor temp, high pressure, low pressure, subcooling and superheat then start looking for cause and effect. There are a whole lot of questions that have to be answered before you need to start talking about air in the system and has anyone proven the low pressure cut off not working theory.
