QUESTION:
Have a Lennox 12ACB36-1P unit with a GE 5SKCP39CG5175S fan motor. The problem is after a while the fan will quit turning, but the unit itself is still running and quite loudly. had a tech come out yesterday. Everything on the system checked ok, (capacitor, compressor, etc) but he did say the motor was unusually hot. He oiled the motor and it worked fine for about 30 hrs and then did it again. I shut it off and waited a few hours and turned it back on. It is running and cooling, but who knows for how long,My question is I cannot find the motor number anywhere on-line to reference it and see just about how much I am looking at. Any ideas on a another model/brand?208-230v 1/6hp (single speed, I think)Would this be easy to do, or do I need to shell out for a pro and how much would be a realistic ballpark figure I am looking at?Thanks for any info/insight.

| ANSWER:
Any local HVAC supply store will have something that will work the motor has a bad bearing or too much endplay causing overheating on long runs but replacing the motor is not too tough just make sure you make all your wiring decisions before you slide the blower back in.
