| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
Hi folks - a couple questions from a homeowner seeking knowledge! Moved into a new house, and the central AC, a high-efficiency Rheem system, seems to be working well enough (so why then must I even question these things!), but I've noticed a slight leak at one of the fittings. I feel oily residue on the copper and it appears that it has been there awhile because there is quite a bit of built up debris. Is this something I need to worry about right now.

ANSWER:
As to your first question it sounds like you have a refrigerant leak if it was just moisture that would be one thing but it would not feel oily so I would ask for them to come out again as you are sure it is leaking. If you had not recently had work done I would not worry about it.
