| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
Just wanted to get an opinion on an issue we are having with our AC. Our AC was working, but not able to cool the house below 76 on the really hot days. We had it serviced. They cleaned everything and added a lb or so of coolant. Now it won't cool the house below 80 and is freezing up outside. (line and compressor.) We called back today, and they said it must be a leak, that they would have had no way of knowing it was a leak on the previous call, and that we would be charged again for a normal service call. They are also saying they are booked and may not get to us till next week. If their statement is correct, I'll just call someone else who can get to us sooner. If we are being given a "line" I'll be calling them back and "discussing" it with them.

ANSWER:
Sorry about your experience this should be a call back everybody makes mistakes but not everyone admits them they obviously made your situation worse not better. If they added any refrigerant they would know there was a leak but it obviously was not a bad one because you were still running at an acceptable level, so if it has leaked down enough to not run at that level in a short time they must have done something to either increase the leak or make a new one. I think however that you do not have a leak at all you probably have an airflow issue like the fan is not running properly or an access panel is not installed right allowing air to bypass the coil. Call em back, then watch them.
