| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
I have a Goodman ARUF3743 Air Handler in my attic that I helped an HVAC contractor install last fall. Sometimes water comes out of the access panel while the unit is running and then if I turn the unit off water runs out the drain like it is supposed to, why does this happen.
|
| ANSWER:
The drain is on the negative pressure side of your blower and therefore needs a trap to prevent the condensate from being sucked away from the drain opening you can buy one ready made at an HVAC supplier or make one with 3/4 inch pvc and 90 degree elbows the trap needs to be 2 inches deep and not interrupt the downhill run of the drain.
