| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
Hello, I'm new here hoping someone willing to help me out. My problem is a GE AEW10AJS1 window unit. This is on 115 at 9900BTU. This thing just died the other day. It won't power at all anymore. I checked the wall outlet and it is working. I reset the switch on the plug also with no luck. I don't see a fuse on this model like I have on my other air conditioner. Any suggestions on where to begin testing. Any help I really appreciate. I'm in Texas and it's burning out here. Thanks. LS

| ANSWER:
You need to look for the wiring diagram it should be on the control box cover it will show the legs of line voltage coming into the unit look for a fuseable device before the main control if there is none the control is probably bad or you have a burnt wire because it is unlikely that the compressor and the fan would go bad at the same time. If you do have a burnt wire I would be taking this thing out of the window and thoroughly cleaning the coils which you should do anyway.
