QUESTION:
I have had a 3M air filter in my hallway, I guess the "return" part of the central air conditioning system. It has been used for about 2 seasons now; the system gets some use,,, not alot, we are in the northeast USA. Just curious, I took it out today and was going to replace with anew one, but brought it outside,, looked at it, shook it, etc ,,,, and it still appears to be somewhat very clean; not even any signs of dust or whatever. Am I missing something here? Does it need to be replaced??

ANSWER:
It sounds like you got a problem if you have been running this unit and the filter is that clean you are either living in a surgery suite or you return duct is broken or disconnected.
