| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
last night, we heard a high pitched and fairly loud noise coming from the blower (inside) which seemed to wind down and stop. just now, I've realized that the condenser appears to be working fine but the blower is not running at all. any thoughts before I call the service tech and get raped with weekend rates? |
ANSWER:
From the noise, it sounds like your blower motor died , turn off your system before you damage the compressor and take the bottom panel of your indoor unit and check the blower see if it spins free or if any obstructions may have been sucked into the blower. If you can spin it with your hand and the motor starts you may be able to replace the capacitor and be ok. That's 10 bucks instead of 200.
