| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
It has happened twice now. A storm comes along and I turn off the AC. Shortly after turning it back on to run,(after the storm has past) the outside unit tripps it's breaker. Blower is fine, and it runs fine when it's dry outside. Any one have an idea as to what' s happening?

ANSWER:
It is possible some water is getting into your disconnect switch but more likely that when you are turning it back on the sudden amp draw on start up creates a problem I would check as many electrical connections as you can find, tighten these and look for corrosion then if it was me I would put an ammeter on the line voltage wires and check the amp draw on start up if it is not overamping then you may have a bad breaker. You can probably get a new breaker at lowes or home depot.
