| HOMEOWNER CRIES FOR HELP... |
| posted: September 8th, 2008 - 2:04pm |
QUESTION:
Kind of new to this forum, so here goes. My furnace came with 16x25x4. These are costing around $25 each and are to last a year. However, we have 3 cats. Has anyone had any problems inserting a 1-2 inch width and changing it monthly? These type of filters are much less expensive.

ANSWER:
Shop around for filters but don't put a smaller filter in the case, you will just end up bypassing particulates around it and plugging up your indoor coil. Air filters need to be sealed around the edges because when the filter becomes dirty and the resistance increases air and dirt will just take the path of least resistance (around the filter).
